Popocatépetl as seen from Tlachihualtepetl (The Great Pyramid) in Cholula, MX. At 5400m, this is the second highest peak in Mexico and is one active stratovolcano. What luck to have a day of smoking and steaming while we were there. It was totally quiet the next day. I’d love to see an eruption one day and have been close here and in Guatemala. I’d gaze at this all day, if the haze and smog of the valley allows. Thankful to have some clear days amongst it all.

Late afternoon on the east side of central Oaxaca and there are times of total silence on the street. Where are all the vehicles? Well, this was a bustling street moments before and will be again in another few, but not so much for walking when the side streets have the shade, the shops and the allure to keep you off the thoroughfare. A lone cab rolls through this otherwise open urban space.
